Children travelling alone
We welcome children travelling alone on flights on most of our destinations. Please contact us to check availability on the destination of your choice.
If you requested the Unaccompanied Minor service, you can check in your child at any check-in desk at Amsterdam Airport. Shortly after you receive the boarding pass, 1 of our agents will pick up your child.
At the airport, you’ll be asked to declare that your child is healthy and fit to fly. You’ll also need to agree that depending on the destination, your child could be subjected to a health screening (e.g. a temperature check) under supervision of the staff accompanying your child.
Your child must be in possession of all required travel documents. We strongly advise you to check the health requirements and additional entry documentation of the countries your child is travelling to and from on their governments’ websites. Make sure to check the requirements shortly before the trip, as they often change. Please be aware that if your child does not carry the required (complete) documentation, there is a risk of denied boarding or denied access to the country.
At some destinations, wearing masks is required in public areas, including the airport. Make sure to check the health requirements of the airports your child is travelling to and from and follow the instructions at the airport.
Face masks are no longer mandatory on most KLM flights. Please note: your child might have to wear a face mask at the final destination or country they are transferring in. Therefore, please check the travel requirements before departure.
Assistance
At some destinations, due to local restrictions, the offer of health assistance might be limited. If this is the case for your destination, you will be informed when you request your assistance.
Travelling with pets
Are you flying with KLM and transferring at Amsterdam Airport? You’re still allowed to take your pet with you in the cabin. It would really help us if you make the reservation for your pet close to your departure date, but at least 48 hours before departure.
Do you have an existing booking with a reservation to bring your pet in the hold, and do you have a transfer at Schiphol airport? We’ll contact you as soon as possible.
If you are on a direct flight to Amsterdam, your pet is allowed to travel in the hold. Unfortunately, if you have more than 3 hours of transfer time, your pet cannot travel in the hold.
Until 31 March 2023, it’s not possible to bring pets in the cabin or in the hold on flights to China.
